Recycling old clothing and textiles
These materials are very valuable and shouldn't be sent to landfill. There are many ways in which they can be reused or recycled.
Reuse by donating or selling
If you have old textiles in good condition consider donating them to a charity organisation such as those with shops on the high street or selling them online or at a car boot sale.
Recycle
If they're not suitable for reuse then they can be placed in clothing and shoe banks in any Household Waste Recycling Centre, bring sites and many supermarket car parks.
What happens to recycled textiles?
Clothes and textiles that aren't suitable for reuse can be made into new items, such as padding for chairs and car seats, cleaning cloths and industrial blankets.
