How Adult Services can help with information, advice and assistance
Information about what happens when you contact Adult Services in Swansea.
We are working with people to improve their wellbeing. We want to assist people when they are worried about their own or someone else's wellbeing or they wish to share a concern.
Information, advice and assistance
When you first contact us, one of our trained staff will ask a number of questions to find out more about your situation - or that of the person you are calling about - and what kind of support would be most helpful.
Our starting point is to give you enough information to meet your own personal requirements, and to make your own care and support plan. Throughout our webpages there are also links to organisations that provide advice and support.
Many social care needs can be met by services and activities that are provided in the local community and we aim to help you find it.
Our Local Area Coordination Team can give you information about groups or organisations in Swansea that would be able to help you, the aim is to provide information that is easy to understand and easy to access.
As well as giving you information, advice and assistance to help promote your wellbeing, we must also offer an assessment if we think you or someone you know needs care and support.
An assessment can help to find out if you have care and support needs, and to see if you are eligible for help from social services.
We may also carry out an assessment if we think you or someone you know is at risk of harm, abuse or neglect.
Where we do provide support or services, this will often be needed for a short time only, and will focus on giving you the skills and confidence to manage independently without needing our support.
