Young Ambassadors

Every child hooked on sport for life is an aspiration for Sport Wales.

Young Ambassadors (IS)
The Young Ambassador movement aims to empower and inspire young people to become role models and leaders through sport, by developing their confidence and skills in order to increase physical participation in others. This approach empowers young people to make their own decisions through consultation, leadership and ownership.

The Active Young People team work with primary, secondary and college students to engage young people in leadership roles, and enthuse them about the role they can play in helping others to get active! Our Young Leaders are involved in setting up and running physical activity sessions within their schools and communities, and many get involved in volunteering roles with our team through events and activities that take place throughout the city.

A Young Ambassador's role is to:

  • increase participation and healthy lifestyles in their school
  • promote the positive values of sport in and through sport
  • be a role model in advocating PE and school sport
  • be the young people's voice on PE and school sport in their schools and communities
