Active Young People
The Active Young People (AYP) team work with primary, secondary schools and local sports clubs across Swansea and are responsible for providing a variety of exciting sport and physical activity opportunities for young people aged between 5 and 16 years, as part of their school extra-curricular programmes and within their local communities.
According to the most recent Sport Wales School Sport Survey (2015) in Wales, 48.8% of secondary pupils and 47.4% of primary pupils in Swansea take part in organised activity other than in curriculum time (ie extra- curricular or club sport) on three or more occasions per week. The Vision for Sport in Wales refers to this as being 'hooked on sport'.
AYP Swansea would like to see every Child Hooked on Sport for Life and there are several Sport Wales funded programmes that help us achieve this.
