Registering to make an online application for school admissions - user guide

Guidance for completing an online application for admissions to Reception or Year 7.

Before you can complete an online application or edit an existing application, you will need to register with a valid email address. You are strongly advised to read the  before making your application.

Important
If you have previously registered with the Citizen Portal you can log on with your original email address and password. Please check My Account to ensure you are up to date and accurate. If you have changed your email address since your previous application, you will need to log on using your original email address and then enter your new email address in My Account.

Please note: Please do not use the Back and Forward buttons at the top of the window on your web browser. Information you have completed may be lost if you use these buttons. Instead use the Back and Continue buttons at the bottom of the webpage.

Registering for a Citizen Portal Account

Before the parent, carer, guardian or young person can log in to the One Citizen Self Service Portal, they must create an account by registering with their local authority. To register for a Citizen Self Service Portal Account the parent must complete the following procedure:

1. Open the URL for the One Citizen Self Service Portal, sent by the local authority, in a web browser to display the Citizen Portal Home page.

2. Click the Register button on the navigation bar or click the Please register link on the Login panel to display the Registration | Security Details tab.

3. Enter the requested information on the Security Details tab; all of the fields are required.

4. Click the Next button to display the About You tab.

5. Enter the requested information on the About You tab; all of the fields are required.

6. Click the Next button to display the Contact Details tab.

7. Enter a Postcode and click Find Address; this is a required field. If you don't find your address you can type it in Enter Address Manually, please see below.

8. The Home Phone, Mobile Number and Work Phone at the bottom of the page are optional but we do recommend entering at least one.

9. Click the Submit Registration button; you will receive an email asking you to activate your account by confirming your email address.

10. Click the link in the email to confirm your email address and complete the registration. You can now log in to the One Citizen Self Service Portal, using the password you created when you registered.
