Don't miss out on fuel support vouchers

Swansea residents who have yet to cash in their £200 fuel support payment vouchers are being urged to do so as soon as possible.

Cost Of Living

The vouchers have been sent to about 1,400 eligible households in Swansea who didn't make a claim for a fuel support payment when the scheme was running between September 2022 and the end of February 2023.

Sent by the Post Office, the vouchers expire on Sunday April 16 and must be cashed in a post office. Anyone who needs to cash a voucher must take identification with them such as a driving licence, passport or a council tax or utility bill that shows their name and address.

About 500 households who have been sent the vouchers haven't cashed them in yet, so Swansea Council is also sending reminder letters to these residents.

The vouchers follow-on from the Council making fuel support payments worth a combined £555,000 to nearly 29,000 residents as part of a scheme funded by the Welsh Government over the winter.

Cllr Rob Stewart, Swansea Council Leader, said: "Our staff have been pulling out all the stops since the fuel support payment scheme went live to identify all eligible households, process applications and get money into people's bank accounts as quickly as possible.

"This has made a big difference to many thousands of local residents and families during the cost of living crisis.

"Our work also means we're able to identify many eligible people who didn't make a fuel support payment claim while the scheme was open, which is why these residents have now been sent vouchers worth £200.

"About 900 of the 1,400 vouchers have now been cashed in, but we're urging all residents who have yet to cash in their vouchers to do so as soon as possible at any post office.

"The vouchers expire on Sunday April 16 and we don't want anyone to miss out on money they're entitled to, which is why we're also issuing reminder letters."
