School uniform grant - school year September 2021 to June 2022
Funded by the Welsh Government to assist families on low incomes.
The grant is available for children who are currently entitled to free school meals* and going into one of the following year groups in September 2021:
- In Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6, Year 7, Year 8, Year 9, Year 10 or Year 11*.
The grant is £200 for Year 7 and £125 for all other year groups. The money should be spent on school uniform, coats, shoes, sports kit etc. and receipts should be kept until August 2022 for spot checks on spend. The grant can also be used to assist with purchasing laptops or tablets to help children when learning from home; however we advise families to contact their child's school / setting to discuss loaning equipment before purchasing any equipment.
Parents of free school meal children will need to log back into their Swansea Account (where they applied for free school meal payments during Covid) to apply for the funding.
Applications can be made from 13 July 2021 to 30 June 2022 and take up to 7 days to process.
*Note that not all children in receipt of free school meals are entitled to the uniform grant. Some children have their meal protected by the Welsh Government's transitional protection scheme, as their income would be above the new free school meal threshold applied to Universal Credit. You can find out more here: Free school meals.
**All Looked After Children (LAC) are entitled to the grant from Reception to Year 11.

School uniforms - new and recycled
In partnership with Swansea Council, we have set up a new project ABC123 which is all about affordable school uniforms. We accept donated uniforms that are no longer required, launder them and then re-sell them at a fraction of the cost of new uniforms.
We have a large quantity of uniforms available at our premises in the town centre and we would welcome you to come and see what is available. Please contact us on 07494 966980 to arrange a suitable time to visit.
