Mynydd Garn Goch
This is a 182 hectare site on the edge of the industrial estate in Penllergaer. Gowerton Road (A484), Swansea Road (B4620) and Hospital Road cross the site.
The site consists of important wildlife habitats including molinia grassland, marshy grassland, scrub, bracken, neutral grassland, acid grassland, lichen/bryophyte heath and ponds.
Highlights
Many important wildlife species including have been spotted at the site:
- Birds: skylark, song thrush, linnet, reed bunting, bullfinch, barn owl, fieldfare, redwing and snipe
- Plants: broom, common gorse, western gorse, heath spotted orchid and southern marsh orchid.
