Family visitor permit

If you are a relative of a person who needs significant levels of care and support due to illness or age, you can apply for a permit to park in the residents parking bays in their street.

Cost: £120 per annum, payable at the time of application. Valid for one year from the date of issue.

  • Permits allow parking in the street where the person being visited resides
  • If two resident parking permits have already been issued for the property, a family visitor permit cannot be issued
  • Only one family visitor permit will be issued per household - if granted, the vehicle registration number on the permit can be updated via MiPermit should an alternative vehicle be required to visit the individual receiving care
  • Only one vehicle registration mark will be active on the family visitor permit at any one time

Evidence needed to apply for a family visitor permit

You'll need to upload ONE of the following on your application:

  1. A letter from the doctor of the person requiring support / care confirming the need for significant care and support is required - please get the doctor to complete: Family visitor parking permit - Doctor's confirmation letter (Word doc, 68 KB)
