Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Well-Being Alyson Pugh said: "Households across Swansea are experiencing a cost of living crisis with the price of energy, fuel, food and other essentials rising at rates we have not experienced for generations.

"We have many wonderful charities, volunteer groups and other organisations working to help those in greatest need in Swansea.

"I'm grateful to the Welsh Government for their help in providing funding to support these efforts."

Among the groups to successfully secure funding in round one was homelessness charity Crisis which operates out of a base on St Helen's Road.

Fundraising Manager for Wales, Sarah Austin, said: "We are really grateful for the £1,500 donation from the Household Support Fund, which has enabled us to purchase much needed vouchers for our members who might need additional support with buying food and essential items, especially during these difficult times.

"At Crisis we provide vital support to people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. We use a model of change which is based upon the belief that we can help end an individual's homelessness by helping them to achieve good health and wellbeing; financial security and employment; housing stability; and positive relationships and social networks."
