Swansea Islamic Faith and Community Leaders Partnership (SIFCLP)

Terms of reference.

Purpose of SIFCLP

Provide an effective strategic education partnership comprising senior representatives from the Islamic faith communities in Swansea to discuss the implications of the Relationships and Sexuality code and guidance for Curriculum for Wales 2022.

The main focus will be to support the well-being objective:

Improving Education and Skills

We want all children and young people to attend school regularly, to be included, to be resilient and have successful futures. We will do this by ensuring children and young people's learning, health and well-being is supported.

The Partnership will consider the following priorities:

  • to promote Swansea as a local authority that is committed to inclusivity and collaboration.
  • to improve outcomes for all of our learners.
  • to clarify the processes for curriculum design, pedagogy and progression for Relationships and Sexuality Education.
  • to strengthen partnership working (between schools and their unique communities) to ensure that schools are supported to deliver high quality Relationships and Sexuality Education for learners of all faiths, beliefs and cultures.
  • to provide the best advice (including liaising with religious leaders) and guidance for individuals and schools to develop a purposeful curriculum for Relationships and Sexuality Education where all learners are valued and supported.
  • to promote mutual respect and collaboration.
  • to engage openly and honestly as we collectively seek to implement Relationships and Sexuality Education as a cross cutting theme in all schools across Swansea.
