Christchurch School Estyn Report

A team from Estyn visited Christchurch (Church in Wales) Primary School last term and have published their report.

They said pupils behave exceptionally well and show respect for each other, staff, and visitors, while relationships between all members of the school community reflect the kind, caring and positive ethos of the school.

The report states Headteacher Helen-Marie Davies, supported by the governing body, provides strong leadership and promotes a clear vision for all learners and staff.

It adds: "Leaders have created a positive learning environment that promotes inclusion, well-being, and an ethos of mutual respect.

"Staff are supported well through professional development, to set high expectations for learners' progress and to develop practices that meet the needs of nearly all learners.

"The headteacher seeks the views of all stakeholders and monitors the progress and impact of all improvement strategies well.

"The school has made effective progress in developing a broad and inclusive curriculum.

"'Curriculum for Christchurch' provides many opportunities for pupils to engage in a range of stimulating learning experiences that enable pupils to enjoy their learning and develop their skills.

"Teachers provide many opportunities for pupils to develop an understanding of different cultures, and this a strength of the school."

Mrs Davies said: "All of us at Christchurch Primary are very proud of this report and very pleased to share the results with pupils and parents.

"They play such an important part in making our school the special place that it is and I would like to thank them along with our governing body and other partners for their continued hard work and support."

Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Education and Learning, Robert Smith, said: "I would like to congratulate all at the school for this report.

"It is clear that pupils feel happy, valued and safe and this is then reflected in their eagerness to learn and the progress they make."
