Tide times

Check out the latest tide times for Swansea Bay and Gower

Swansea Bay and the Gower Peninsula are located within the Severn Estuary and our beaches and coastline experience the second highest tidal range in the world. The sea will advance and retreat twice daily with an average height of 8.5m.

For the latest tide times, please visit BBC Coast and Sea Tide Tables (opens new window)

Tide times and heights can vary throughout the month and can easily catch you out if you're not prepared. If you are planning on undertaking any activity around our coastline the RNLI advise that to avoid getting cut off by the tide:

  • before you head out, make sure it's safe. Check the tide tables
  • while you're out, be aware of your surroundings and the tide's direction.
