Coronavirus staff update - 10 June 2020 - supporting Welsh Gov's Test, Trace, Protect strategy

To support the Welsh Government's Test, Trace, Protect strategy, Swansea Council is working with Swansea Bay University Health Board and Neath Port Talbot Council to provide a Covid-19 testing and contact tracing service for the region which is now up and running.

This will help stop the spread of Covid-19 in the community with effective and extensive contact tracing and support for people to self-isolate where required to do so.

To stay safe and help avoid contracting coronavirus there are key social distancing rules we must all follow at home and work:

  • Always observe social distancing, stay 2 metres apart
  • Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds
  • If you are meeting one other household, stay outdoors and stay local and keep 2m apart
  • Work from home if you can
  • Do not share lifts with others from outside your household
  •  Continue to follow Government guidance that can be found at: www.gov.wales/coronavirus

If anyone has any of the Covid-19 symptoms, however mild, other than leaving home to be tested, they must self-isolate at home immediately. Stay at home if you or anyone you live with has symptoms - needs to include anyone you live with.

These symptoms are:

  • A new continuous cough
  • A fever
  • Loss of smell or taste

If you begin to display symptoms of coronavirus then you have the option of attending a drive-through testing unit at the Liberty Stadium by booking an appointment at: sbuhb.nhs.wales/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-covid-19/test-trace-protect/

As part of the Test, Trace, Protect strategy, those who test positive or are a contact of a case will be contacted by a member of the Welsh Contact Tracing Team.
