Pwll Du Local Nature Reserve

Comprising of a narrow strip of flat land on top of the cliffs and the slope down to the sea washed rocks, Pwll Du Local Nature Reserve supports a variety of important habitats and plants.

Habitats include limestone grassland, maritime cliffs and scrub.

The nature reserve is managed as part of the Countryside Council for Wales 'Tir Cymen' scheme, a whole farm agri-environment scheme that was available throughout Wales. It aims to encourage agricultural practices that protect and enhance landscapes of Wales, their cultural features and associated wildlife.

Grazing and control of scrub and bracken maintain the grassland habitat. This helps deliver UK Biodiversity Action Plan targets as well as providing a practical demonstration of the principles of sustainable development.
