The latest official estimate of the population of the City and County of Swansea is 246,700 (mid-year estimate 2023, Office for National Statistics). 

These are the third annual mid-year population estimates published by ONS since the 2021 Census.  They represent Swansea's estimated population as at 30 June 2023, accounting for births, deaths and estimated migration changes over the year from mid-2022.  The latest estimate indicates overall population growth in Swansea of approx. 4,700 (+1.9%) since mid-2022.  As part of this release, the original estimates for mid-2022 have been revised by ONS to account for updated estimates of international migration.
