Pay your Council Tax

There are a number of ways to pay your Council Tax. Direct Debit is the easiest and most convenient way to pay.

Swansea Council is the data controller for the personal information you provide on this form.  We are collecting this information as part of our obligation under The Local Government Finance Act 1992. Your information will be used to help us fulfil our legal obligation and will not be used for any other purpose.  We will not share your data with third parties unless we are required or permitted to do so by law.

Set up a new Direct Debit or change an existing Direct Debit for your Council Tax (opens new window)

Payments can be taken on the 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of the month.

 

Online payments

Pay your Council Tax online using a debit or credit card. Please have your Council Tax account number to hand.

 

Over the telephone

Call 0300 4562765, please have your Council Tax account number to hand when you call as well as your debit or a credit card.

Please note that we do not accept payments via American Express.

 

At the Post Office or a Payzone outlet

Payments at the Post Office are made using a magnetic stripe payment card.

If you already have a Post Office payment card, you can use this to pay at any Post Office. If you wish to order a card, contact us and we can issue one.

Payments must be made by cash only. No fee is payable at any Post Office as long as the payment is made with the magnetic stripe card. Your payment will be credited to your Council Tax account within 5 days and you will be issued with a paper receipt when you make the payment.

By cheque

Cheques and postal orders should be crossed and made payable to the 'City and County of Swansea'.

Please write your name, address and Council Tax account number on the back of the cheque and then post it to:

Oystermouth Road

SA1 3SN.

Please do not send post-dated cheques as we are unable to accept these. Also do not send cash in the post.

 

In person

You can make payments in person by cash, debit card, credit card* or cheque at our cash office in the Civic Centre or at any of the local area housing offices.

Please make sure you have your Council Tax account number with you when you come to make the payment and know how much you need to pay.

You can pay your bill straight into the council's bank account:
