Order a book

We are now offering a 'phone and pick up' service at four of our libraries for people who want to borrow books.

Library buildings remain closed to the public, but you can now order and collect books and audiobooks. You can also phone to arrange to return items to these libraries.

Don't forget that you can still download ebooks and eaudiobooks online.

Where can I order/collect from

Phone to place your order at your chosen library: Tuesday - Thursday, 9.30am - 4.30pm.

Swansea Central Library - 01792 636464

Gorseinon Library - 01792 516780

Morriston Library - 01792 516770

Oystermouth Library - 01792 368380

Collection slots will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. You will be given a day and time to collect your order when you phone.

For residents who are unable to get to the libraries because of health or mobility reasons, please speak to a member of staff to see if we can help in any other way.

What you will need when you order

When you call, make sure you have the following information to hand:

  • your library card number and telephone number
  • your book requests/preferences - this could be a selection of your favourite authors/genres or a few specific book titles.

You can search the Swansea Libraries catalogue to browse books.

Library staff will select books for you and provide you with a date and time slot for when you can visit the library to collect or return your items. Staff will do their best to meet your requirements, but please be aware that many of the most popular titles may still be on loan because of the current lockdown situation. Delays from suppliers may also mean that some new book releases are also currently unavailable.

If you are not already a member of Swansea Libraries, you can join online today.

Safety measures

In the interest of customer and staff safety there will be necessary restrictions in place.

Customers will also need to follow safety measures in place at each location, which reflect current government guidance regarding Covid-19 infection control. This includes the instruction that no one visits the library if they or anyone they are living with is isolating, or displays Covid-19 symptoms.

We are following Public Health Wales guidance on reducing the risk of cross contamination by placing all books in a 72 hour quarantine.

When visiting the library please adhere to social distancing, and only turn up when you have been allocated a time slot by staff.

To reduce contact, your books will be ready and waiting for you at the library entrance.
