Support through Microenterprises

What is a Microenterprise?

Microenterprises are small, community-based services that can provide support that is personal and flexible. Residents can access microenterprises in two ways:

  • privately where the individual pays for the service themselves,
  • or using direct payments either to the person who requires support or their carers. If an individual has an assessment with a social work practitioner and their care and support needs are identified they can use microenterprises to meet those needs. This is done through the direct payments process.

The services include help with cleaning, getting out and about, personal care, laundry, gardening and much more (some of these services will only be accessed privately).

The list of services available is still growing and Swansea Council are encouraging more people to set up new microenterprises in the area.
