Swansea and Gower local access forum
The purpose of the local access forum is to provide a platform to advise and discuss the improvement and management of public access to the countryside in the area.
The Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 requires each local authority to provide a local access forum (LAF). The purpose of the forum is to provide advice, and to discuss the improvement and management of public access to the countryside in the area. Recreational access of all types will be taken into consideration during debate at the forum, including walking, horse riding, and cycling.
Swansea LAF membership should maintain a balance between landowners, user groups and interested parties, and meets 4 times a year. Members must re-apply to join every 3 years.
Members have been selected because of their ability, knowledge and experience, to represent the interests of at least one group of access users, land managers and owners, or other issues relevant to access such as conservation or tourism. Members sit as individuals, rather than as representatives of any specified organisation.
Members of the public are welcome to observe at meetings of the forum.
