Sketty schoolgirl creates winning Christmas Card for Lord Mayor
A Parklands Primary pupil is celebrating after her design was chosen to be featured on the Lord Mayor of Swansea's official Christmas Card.
Year 5 pupil, Lily's winning design was one of six shortlisted by Lord Mayor of Swansea, Cllr Mike Day, after he held a competition to design the card by pupils from Sketty and Parkland Primary schools.
Lily said on her competition win: "This is fantastic news. I was so excited to hear that I won the competition amongst so many others who had created a card.
"I wanted to show Swansea as a hopeful place at wintertime and really capture how beautiful Swansea is at Christmas.
"I am very honoured to have my card chosen as the winning design. I love drawing as I like creative ways of telling stories.
"I am happy that my message of hope for Christmas can be shared with people in my home town of Swansea."
Councillor Mike Day added: "I was blown away by the quality of the work by the pupils, which made it so difficult to choose the final one. Unfortunately, I couldn't give Lily her prize, as she had to visit a seriously ill relative overseas, and send her my congratulations and thanks for such an inspiring design."
Lily's design will now feature on the Lord Mayor of Swansea's official Christmas card, which is being sent to city representatives and dignitaries around the world.
