Leadfield, Ffynnon Deml
In contrast to the designed landscape of the neighbouring Morriston Park, this is a large area of open grassland (currently grazed by ponies) with a boggy area that provides a great habitat for amphibians like frogs, toads and newts.
Several years ago the local communities fought off a planning application to develop the site and its future as an area of open space now seems secure.
There is presently little tree cover but there are plans for a community woodland to be planted here in the future. There are some interesting archaeological features on the site including an old well (Ffynnon Deml means Temple Well) and the remnants of ancient field workings.
