Gower Hedgerow Hub - volunteers needed!
We provide practical opportunities for people to learn about hedges, and help look after this humble but really important habitat.
The Gower Hedgerow Hub celebrates the cultural and ecological importance of hedgerows across Gower and Swansea - hedges are a lifeline for wildlife in urban and rural landscapes.
Our Hedgerow Heroes- volunteers and landowners - are at the heart of the project, and we're looking for more Heroes to work with. So, if you want to lend a hand, learn new skills, or have hedges that need a bit of TLC, please get in touch!
Volunteering - be one of our Hedgerow Heroes
From February each year, native small birds and other critters will be making their homes in hedgerows across Gower. In fact the RSPB website states that "Hedges may support up to 80 per cent of our woodland birds, 50 per cent of our mammals and 30 per cent of our butterflies."
We need Hedgerow Heroes to help with important practical work that will have a big impact on little ones such as dunnocks, wrens, whitethroats and bullfinches.
Various locations around Gower. Tea and coffee provided, please bring your own lunch. If you need to start or finish a little later / earlier that's not a problem - just let us know.
Volunteering days will only take place if we have 3 or more people signed up, so please confirm your attendance by booking online (it's free) or ring 01792 636992.
A massive thank you to all the Hedgerow Heroes who have volunteered their time already - you really are super! You can see what they've been up to by heading over to our Facebook page.
We also want to thank our generous funders who are helping make great things happen to protect and promote Gower's hedgerows: Natural Resources Wales, National Trust, Swansea Council, Gower SDF, The Gower Society.
