Latest press release - Village Green application for Parc y Werin is dismissed

If the new school is built it will replace Gorseinon Primary School's existing buildings which are located on three sites in Gorseinon.

Planning permission for the new school was granted in December 2015. However, the Council received an application to register the land known as Parc Y Werin, Gorseinon (which included the site on which it is proposed that the new school is built) as a town or village green. Following a public inquiry which took place on 14 to 16 February 2017, the Council's Planning Committee resolved that the application for the registration be refused on 6 June 2017.

The Council has now published a notice of appropriation of open space at Parc Y Werin for education purposes. More information about this can be found below. Any objections received to the notice will be considered and a report presented to Cabinet for consideration.

Below you will find some artist impressions of what the proposed new school will look like if it goes ahead. You will also find a photograph, which shows some of the condition issues faced by the current Gorseinon Primary School in Brighton Road.
