Supporting children to live in a family home

We're looking for more people who can open up their heart and home to young people who are ready to live in a family home, but have had time and support in a residential type setting.

These children have had the team of professionals around them assess and conclude that they are ready for this positive transition and have the ability to thrive in a family setting. These young people deserve to live in a family setting, where they have a sense of belonging. They need security and support and a place where they can flourish.

Being able to provide foster placements for these young people will be crucial in their social and emotional development. It will give them a sense of sanctuary and stability. Through experience, we know that carers also find this an extremely rewarding and well supported type of placement.

In order for these children and their foster carers to feel support of the team around them, and in recognition of the commitment, foster carers who offer these type of placements will receive:

  • Extensive training
  • Enhanced support from SSW
  • Multi-agency support, including regular 'Team Around the Child' meetings
  • Respite
  • An enhanced fee

If you are interested in becoming a foster carer, and feel you could offer a young person a place they can call home, call Foster Swansea on 0300 555 0111.
