Freedom of information statistics

Details of the number of freedom of information (FOI) requests received by us.

We undertake the following actions to manage FOI requests:

  1. FOI request is received
  2. The FOI is logged and a deadline date assigned (inline with the FOI Act)
  3. The FOI is passed to the relevant FOI officer to gather the response
  4. The FOI officer responds to the FOI, copying in the relevant section to close the FOI.

Information governance resources

Information governance is operated as a dispersed model within Swansea Council and there are no dedicated posts (as opposed to shared responsibilities and networks) or budget to deal with FOI requests, other than the statutory post of Data Protection Officer on pay band £51,649 to £55,919.

Every department has an identified FOI officer responsible for gathering the data required to respond to a FOI request. These duties are on top of their day-to-day duties.
