Employment and Skills Flexible Fund

If you live in Wales and have recently been made redundant from Tata Steel UK, a company within its supply chain, or other associated contractors you can access grant funding to help you secure future employment.

The Employment and Skills Flexible Fund has been set up by the Tata Transition Board to support people in Wales directly or indirectly affected by Tata Steel UK's current transformation programme.

What can the grant funding be used for?

If you are eligible, the grants for individuals can help you cover costs such as:

  • training costs
  • exam fees
  • work related certificates and licences
  • tools and equipment
  • public liability insurance for self-employment

The above is not a full list of examples, other support costs will be considered for funding on an individual basis.

How can I access the funding?

If you live in Swansea

Email swanseaworking@swansea.gov.uk or phone 01792 578632 to arrange to meet with one of our Swansea employability mentors to check your eligibility.

Or you can call in to the Swansea Working Hub in the Quadrant Shopping Centre or any of the local community hubs: Swansea Working employment hubs

If you live elsewhere in Wales

Please contact your local employability service. If you are working in Port Talbot but live elsewhere you can also call into the above drop-in locations to speak to one of our advisors face-to-face.

We understand that redundancy and what may follow can be daunting, but please get in touch. We are here to help you decide what you want to do and to support you in whatever direction you wish to go.

What information will I need to provide?

To help our advisors support you and to progress your enquiry quicker, you'll need to provide:

  • a copy of your redundancy letter
  • photographic ID
  • your National Insurance number

Funding will be available into 2025-26.
