Council Tax discounts and exemptions
Find out if you're eligible to pay less Council Tax.
Apply for single person discount
If you are over 18 and the only person living at the property you can apply for a 25% discount on your bill.
Council Tax Reduction benefit
If you are on a low income or in receipt of Universal Credit you could get Council Tax Reduction to help you pay your Council Tax.
Discounts for people who aren't included
Certain groups of people aren't included in Council Tax charges which could mean discounts for the whole household.
Exemptions for properties that aren't included
Some properties are exempt from Council Tax for certain time periods.
Disabled person reduction
You may be moved to a lower band of Council Tax if a disabled person (adult or child) lives in your household.
Carer's discount
If you are caring for somebody in your household (other than your partner or a child under the age of 18) then the person(s) responsible for paying the Council Tax could be eligible for a discount.
Student exemption/discount
Full time students will either be fully exempt from Council Tax or may be eligible for a discount.
