Coronavirus 6 April 2020 - Most vulnerable prioritised for social care to help NHS

Important changes are being temporarily made to social care across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot to increase capacity and prioritise the most vulnerable to support the NHS during the peak of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Social care has already seen demand rise during the past few weeks, and steps are being taken to increase the number of residential beds and staff across the region.

However, even this expanded capacity is not going to be enough to respond to the expected surge in demand as the Coronavirus peaks.

It means further prioritising those who will be able to receive care and support from social services, creating even more capacity in the social care system while also making alternative arrangements for those who will no longer be able to have their needs met by social services.
