Walking Development Officer

The Walking Development Officer's primary role is to encourage increased participation in physical activity amongst identified target groups, and to ensure that links to appropriate 'exit routes' and other physical activity projects are in place.

The WDO takes the lead in developing sustainable community based walking groups and opportunities within Swansea, and identifies doorstep opportunities for walking. The WDO has established a programme of Health Walk Leader training courses that has trained over 200 leaders across Swansea. Delegates are welcome on future courses.

The WDO supports new and existing groups seeking resources and funding, assistance with walk planning and management, and opportunities to widen their range of walks. The WDO works with a wide a range of partners and organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
