Community volunteers

Many wonderful people want to volunteer in their communities to help support our most vulnerable residents.

The people of Swansea have stepped up to the plate to help support the most vulnerable in communities to keep them safe and supported, but we need more people to come forward during this difficult situation.

Formal volunteering with SCVS - sign up is temporarily closed

More than 1,400 city residents have stepped up in answer to a call for volunteers to be there for their communities during the coronavirus pandemic.

SCVS is now sifting through offers so that volunteers can be placed where they're needed most.

SCVS anticipates that as the situation changes over the coming months they may need to reopen volunteer recruitment for new roles. Watch this space, and follow them on social media to sign up again in the future:

Informal community volunteering

Local Area Co-ordinators (LAC) are supporting local communities by taking the details of those in need of support and putting them in touch with volunteers who can help with every day tasks such as shopping for those that need it.

If you would like to volunteer to help a neighbour in this way, contact details for your nearest LACs can be found at www.swansea.gov.uk/localareacoordination

We'll take every precaution necessary to avoid circumstances where the virus can be passed on and we are practicing social distancing measures, to safeguard the public health of volunteers and vulnerable residents being supported.

Volunteering activities will strictly comply with the up-to-date public health instructions advised by the Government.
