Coedgwilym cemetery

Coedgwilym cemetery is located in Clydach. Burial records for the cemetery are available from 8th April 1920.

Coffin Burials can be arranged in New graves in sections Three and Four and also in existing family graves (subject to depth). Services are available Monday to Saturday at 30 minute intervals.

Cremated remains can be buried in New bricked / earthen plots and also in existing family graves; cremated remains can also be scattered on existing family graves or in the central Garden of Remembrance.

Memorials can only be erected by a memorial mason affiliated with the British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons (BRAMM) scheme; Lawn and kerb set memorials can be erected on any grave (subject to regulations), except in section Four which is strictly for lawn memorials only.

Opening times

There are no restrictions for pedestrian access; however, vehicles are allowed during the following hours:

  • Monday to Thursday  9.00am - 4.30pm 
  • Friday 9.00am - 4.00pm 
  • Weekends and Bank Holidays 10.00am - 4.00pm

Drivers must drive slowly and show due care to any pedestrians in the cemetery.

Dog walking

Dogs are allowed into the cemetery but must be kept on a lead and under control at all times; dog owners must show respect and consideration for other visitors by keeping to the paths and not walking on graves and remembrance gardens with their dogs; any mess must be picked up immediately and deposited in the bins provided. The cemetery supervisor may refuse access to the cemetery grounds if these conditions are not complied with.

Travelling by car - Leave the M4 at Junction 45and head north on the A4067 towards Pontardawe. Continue on this road for approximately 1 ½ miles. At the roundabout take the first left towards Clydach. At the mini roundabout turn right towards Pontardawe on the B4063. Coedgwilym cemetery is approximately a mile up the road on the right hand side.

Travelling by bus - The cemetery is on a main bus route with the stop being close to the main entrance; the service runs from Swansea Quadrant Bus Station to Ystradgynlais approximately every half hour.

Travelling by train - The nearest station is Swansea High Street Station.  Buses and taxis can be found at the front of the station.  Coedgwilym Cemetery is approximately 20 minutes drive.
