Swansea Council Charter on Climate Change

To demonstrate our commitment to a Net Zero Swansea, a Swansea Council Charter on Climate Change was approved at Council on 3 December 2020.

The Charter sets out our commitment to work towards becoming a Net Zero organisation by

  • committing to work towards a Net Zero carbon as an organisation by 2030
  • taking actions to meet the challenge of a climate emergency
  • working collaboratively with partners to develop a strategy
  • involving stakeholders including children and young people in a trust building dialogue.

The Charter has been signed by Swansea Council's Leader and political Group Leaders. Next Councillors and Key Officers will commit to the Charter in Early 2021.

Swansea Council is taking wide ranging action to tackle climate change as an organisation. But we know if are to meet our overarching ambition for a Net Zero City and County of Swansea by 2050, citizens, businesses, community, voluntary and our partner organisations will need to all play their part.

We aim to lead by example and challenge citizens, businesses and partner organisations to make their own commitments in the form of a wider Swansea Charter on Climate Change.
