Ceremonies at approved venues
Civil marriages and civil partnerships can take place in a variety of premises. These include hotels, historic buildings, museums, theatres and football stadiums.
These locations are known as approved venues. You will need to arrange for a registrar to carry out the ceremony at an approved venue. A list of venues which are licensed in Swansea is shown below.
How to book a ceremony
You can book a registrar for your ceremony up to two years before your chosen date. This must be done by emailing registrars@swansea.gov.uk. For bookings made more than one year before your chosen date, you will need to pay a non-refundable fee to secure the date and time.
Please note that your booking stays provisional until you have given your notice of marriage or civil partnership within the statutory time scales.
It is your responsibility to make arrangements with both the venue and the register office to make sure that registrars are available on the day that you wish to have your ceremony.
We will try to accommodate your ceremony wherever possible but cannot guarantee your preferred date and time.
