Central Library

Central Library is now closed to the public while it moves from Civic Centre to Y Storfa.

The opening date for the new library at Y Storfa is due to be later in the year. Updates will be posted here and on our social media channels, so keep an eye out!

While we're closed

You can still borrow and return books at any of our other 16 libraries (including returning books that you borrowed from Central Library), as well as accessing PCs, printers and wifi:

Your new Central Library at Y Storfa

You'll be able to use the new Central Library at Y Storfa every day of the week! As now, hours may differ on public holidays. The Civic Centre library will relocate to Y Storfa. The Civic library has been open six days a week; it was closed every Monday.

The new library's Monday operation will be on an innovative self-service basis and unstaffed, allowing you to:

borrow, return and renew items for loan - bring your library card!
access the Swansea Libraries online catalogue
pick up available reserved items
print - via online payment
scan - on a flatbed scanner
use public devices, including PCs, Hublet tablets, for internet access and other applications
use free Wifi
access maps
access newspapers on microfilm
join the library online
use Y Storfa's public areas

The new Central Library will be staffed six days a week, as now, and will offer its full range of services.

Its opening hours will be as they have been at the Civic Centre (plus the Monday self-service):
