An extremely popular urban park. As well as having some superb facilities, park also has a unique outdoor classroom, the Discovery Centre.
The state of the art facility provides the park with a special focus for exploring its history and wildlife. The centre overlooks the large lake and all its diverse wildlife.
The Discovery Centre is well worth a visit. As well as arts and crafts and interactive games for the children, there's also a variety of educational adult activities. The centre also features a large one way glass window where you can see the birds and wildlife in their natural habitats.
Steeped in local history, the park has the honour of being Swansea's first informal then formal park. Dating back to 1872 it is of national interest through its Grade II listing by Cadw's Register of Parks and Gardens of Historic Interest. At a local level the park developed alongside the early growth of Swansea for which its reservoir supplied domestic water, and was an important part of the active life of the city residents for whom the park has always been a special place. The recent awarding of a £1.3 million Heritage Lottery grant has enabled the park to be lovingly restored to its former glory.
