Birchgrove youngsters thrilled by their new play area
Children in Birchgrove are celebrating thanks to the refurbishment of a much-loved play area in Parc-y-Helig.
It was officially-opened by Council Leader Rob Stewart at a special community event with a little help from the council's play mascot, Jo Joio, who tried out a few of the new rides as well.
The newly-refurbished Parc yr Helig play area features a 12m zipline, mini trampoline, swings for infants and older children and a range of other equipment to keep youngsters happy for hours on end.
The completed project is one of more than 30 schemes springing up all over the city as part of a Swansea Council programme worth more than £2m.
Cllr Stewart said: "Every ward in Swansea is getting at least £36,000 this year so that much-needed play areas can be given a new lease of life. The council is working with ward members and the local community to make sure that the equipment youngsters would like is the equipment they get.
"It's brilliant to be here today to see young people enjoying themselves so much today and it makes all the effort by local councillors and our council teams so worthwhile. I hope they'll have fund in this space for years to come."
