BBQ bins on beaches
To enable the safe disposal of barbecues, including hot coals, Swansea Council have introduced fire-proof bins at beaches popular for barbecues.
Beaches are great places to relax, eat and have fun all day long but waste from disposable and standard barbecues can be hazardous, particularly to children.
To enable the safe disposal of barbecues, including hot coals, Swansea Council have introduced fire-proof bins at beaches popular for barbecues.
Beaches with BBQ bins:
- Caswell Bay
- Langland
- Rotherslade
- Swansea Bay, near The Secret Beach Bar and Kitchen
The bins are provided to enable the safe disposal of hot coals and barbecue waste, helping reduce the risk of accidents associated with disposable barbecues in particular, including burns caused by hot coals buried just under the surface of the sand.
Please remember:
- douse the barbeque with cold water once you have finished, ensuring the fire is out and the coals are cold
- dispose of the barbeque and/or coals in the barbeque bin provided. Please do not place barbeques or coals in any other bin
- dispose all other waste in the litter bins provided
- open fire are NOT permitted on the beach or surrounding area
- do not bring glass bottles onto the beach.
