Tourism update - 23 March 2020

We are fully aware of the devastating impact COVID-19 is having on the entire tourism industry and how difficult the situation is for businesses going through this unprecedented crisis - small businesses in particular.

Please be assured that we, the Council's Tourism Team, are here for you to assist in any way that we can.

Although we have been advised to work from home until further notice, we remain available throughout normal working hours so please do not hesitate to contact us via email at

We will do our best to give you as much guidance and support as we can to help you through this difficult time and to answer any query you may have.

We are conscious you probably feel a little overwhelmed with information and advice right now, so we promise to keep our weekly updates short and to the point.

Our key message to you this week is this:

Please can you let us know what your situation is right now, for example:

  • Are you taking any special measures to protect your business?
  • Are you scaling down / closing temporarily?
  • Are you offering extra services to help your community, such as deliveries?
  • Are you offering online vouchers for your guests / customers, e.g. deferred bookings / online deliveries?
  • Is there anything we can help you with?

Any information you provide will help us draw a picture of the industry and inform official bodies of the most pressing issues. We can also post the information to and social media to keep residents and visitors up-to-date as the situation develops.

We've also compiled some useful links for you below, which address some of the most FAQs:
