Dealing with litter and dog fouling

How the community in Lower Loughor is tackling the problem of littering and dog fouling in the area.

The Friends of Parc Williams approached the council early last year about the problem of dog fouling and litter issues, which was unsightly and also a health hazard. The council worked to support the community and an action plan was drawn up.

  • Swansea Council supplied the Friends of Parc WilliamsOpens new window with equipment and bags for their clean-up events
  • The Council installed a number of new dog fouling and litter bins in the area, so now there are more than 30 bins in Lower Loughor to ensure one is never far away
  • The council adopted a zero tolerance approach to dog fouling and robustly enforcing where appropriate and necessary
  • Friends of Parc Williams hold monthly litter picks in the area - ring Eileen on 01792 891079 or 07787 991686 to join in
  • Along with Keep Wales Tidy, the Council has supplied adult and children's size litter pickers along with high visibility jackets, bags, gloves and has arranged collection of litter picked.

Community members meet for a litter pick once a month in different locations, and new helpers are very welcome.  If you'd like to join in the campaign against litter in Lower Loughor, please ring Eileen on 01792 891079 or 07787 991686.
