Bank holiday information - Easter

Bank holiday information for our services, including opening times and emergency contacts. All recycling collections will take place on the usual days.

Sports Funding

Please note: Community Chest funding and Development Grants are currently on hold due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Sports funding (IS)

This means clubs and organisations will no longer be able to apply for any other new grants with us including Community Chest and Development Grants. This is a temporary measure and in recognition that it is very unlikely that any new sports development activity will be able to be progressed in the current climate.

Recovery Fund for Sports Clubs and Associations

A number of local sports clubs around Swansea can now claim new grants of up to £1,500 to help the city out of the pandemic.  The grant is available for clubs and associations that either self-manage council pitches or lease grounds from the council.

Grant applications will be accepted from Monday 23rd August until October 30th 2021.

For further information or to request an application form, please contact Sport and Health Swansea

Be Active Wales Fund

The Be Active Wales Fund aims to protect and progress community sport clubs and organisations in Wales through the Covid-19 pandemic and into the future.

The fund has already helped many clubs and organisations across Wales face the challenges caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. It will continue to provide funding to help clubs tackle these challenges, and to ensure sustainability for years to come.

The £4 million fund has been made possible through money Sport Wales receives from Welsh Government and the National Lottery.

Grants

There are two types of grant available, all designed to address different challenges faced by clubs and organisations.

If you are applying for the fund, it's important that you choose the correct grant and make your application relevant to that grant.

1. Protect

To help protect clubs and community organisations or groups that are at immediate financial risk as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This grant is intended to help organisations that are unable to meet their financial obligations because of Covid-19. For example, to cover fixed costs (e.g. rent and utility) that are no longer supported with revenue.

Protect grants of £300-£5,000 are available for emergency support

2. Progress

To help progress sport and activity to the next step and support long-term sustainability.

This grant is intended to help clubs and community organisations:

  • Tackle inequality
  • Create long-term solutions to be more sustainable
  • Take innovative approaches
  • The Progress grant can also fund items that are essential for a return to play.

Grants of £300 - £50,000* are available.

* You will need to make a contribution of 10% for grants over £10k or 20% over £25k.
