Throughout June many countries around the world, including the UK, celebrate and continue to push for LGBTQ rights.

For many years the Pride highlight in Swansea has been a parade in the city centre but due to current coronavirus restrictions this is not possible.

Swansea Council Cabinet Member and Council Champion for LGBT, Elliott King, said: "Swansea has a vibrant and growing LGBT+ community and usually we'd normally be holding the hugely popular parade but sadly we can't at the moment.

"No-one should face prejudice because of their sexual orientation or gender identity and events such as Swansea Pride give us the chance to come together to celebrate the diversity of our communities.

"It will return as soon as restrictions allow but we are still marking this important month in the calendar.

"The rainbow flag is flying from the Guildhall and the building will be lit-up on Monday evening as Swansea Council shows its continued support for LGBT rights and the LGBT community."
