The council's Lifelong Learning Service is putting together the programme which builds on the huge success of last year's Swansea Learning Festival which attracted over 9,000 learners.

Taster sessions will run during the summer and early autumn before people have a chance to sign-up for full-length courses in September.

They range from beginners' IT to essential skills for those who would like a little help with their maths and English.

Families can download the family learning activities to help keep the children busy during the summer or parents can de-stress trying some yoga or guitar playing.

Those keen to discover their creative side can join the service's award winning floristry tutor, or try one of the arts and crafts sessions including drawing & painting, calligraphy and papier-mâché.

Anyone inspired by The Great British Sewing Bee or Masterchef can try the needlecraft or cookery sessions or if digital photography is more their style they can pick up some tips from a well-known travel photographer or improve their photo editing skills.

This year the council's Lifelong Learning Service is linking up with the Learning & Work Institute for the virtual Adult Learners' Week happening online from September 21.

Cllr Jennifer Raynor, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Education Improvement, Learning and Skills, said: "Adult Learners' Week is the largest adult learning campaign in Wales which aims to inspire and encourage thousands of adults each year to continue learning through a wide variety of forms, raising awareness of the value of adult learning and how learning can positively change their lives.

"These bite sized free taster sessions are a great way to see what is on offer and to try something new ahead of the full courses starting in September."

To access all of the taster sessions visit and complete the application form. You will then be sent an access code so that you can join in online.
