Anyone interested in finding out more about fostering is being invited to attend a virtual information evening being organised by Foster Swansea.

Swansea Council's fostering service usually stages regular face-to-face events but these have not been possible during the Covid-19 crisis.

On Wednesday July 29 the team will be staging an online event via Microsoft Teams between 6 and 7pm.

People need to register in advance.

Cllr Elliott King, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Children's Services, said: "Throughout the coronavirus pandemic the team at Foster Swansea have done a great job keeping in touch with our wonderful foster carers offering them advice and support.

"Sadly they have not been able to stage their usual information events for those interested in becoming foster carers so I'm pleased that they are trialling an online version.

"Those taking part will be able to learn more about fostering, what it entails, and speak with foster carers and members of the Foster Swansea Team.

"Now more than ever, we need new foster families who have spare bedrooms and have what it takes to change the lives of local children and young people."

To book onto the event, please email foster.swansea@swansea.gov.uk providing a contact name and email address. Alternatively, phone (01792) 636103 and provide this information. You will then be sent a link to the event.

People need to register their interest no later than Monday July 27.

Anyone who can't attend the virtual event but would like more information on fostering, can contact the Foster Swansea team on 0300 555 0111 or visit www.fosterswansea.org
