Council takes court action to force gym closure

We've taken court action to close a gym in Fforestfach which repeatedly refused to close during the pandemic. Bomking Gym on Fforestfach Industrial Estate had been visited by trading standards officers and asked to closed. But it carried on trading even after it was issued with fixed penalty notices. Swansea Magistrates Court issued the closure order which means the gym must close immediately.

Mark Thomas, Cabinet Member for Environment improvement and infrastructure management said most firms are working with the council to protect the public and help prevent the spread of the virus. But he said those who did not comply with the law would face action if necessary.

Bus station set to re-open next week

Our city's main bus station will open its doors to bus passengers from Sunday 12 July.

We've been working in recent weeks to prepare the site for the return of passengers, who will see a number of changes to the bus station to ensure passengers are safe when waiting for their bus.

During the lockdown, the bus station has undergone a deep clean and additional cleansing measures are being implemented when it's reopened. Seating inside the bus station will also be available but the number of seats will be reduced.

Bus rangers will also be present to offer support and advice about bus services.

Remember to keep your distance

Although some Welsh Government Coronavirus restrictions are being eased, including the five-mile travel rule, coronavirus has not gone away. It's as vital as ever that we continue to maintain the 2m social distancing rule, keep washing hands regularly and self-isolate if you or someone in your household has symptoms.

Creatures at Plantasia are in good hands

The much-loved animals in our popular Plantasia are in good hands during the pandemic.

The facility, managed for us by Parkwood Leisure is being kept in prime condition thanks to ongoing work by Parkwood staff.
