Local area co-ordination

Almost 15,000 requests for help in the community have been answered by Swansea Council's Local Area Coordinators and an army of 2,600 community champions.

When Swansea went into lockdown the LAC team was quickly expanded to cover every area of the city. Council staff were temporarily redeployed to help coordinate the response so the vulnerable could access food or shopping, pick up medication or make a friendly phone call when most needed.

Sections of our communities are set to enjoy a blaze of colour this summer thanks to the council's wildflower planting scheme.

Coronavirus means that this year's scheme will not be as extensive as usual although areas like Valley Way in the Enterprise Zone and the long stretch between Civic Centre and West Cross will all feature the colourful array.

The wildflowers seeding programme is part measures we've taken since the re-start of services since the lockdown

Small businesses need to act fast on grant bids

If you're a small business owner who has yet to find out if you're eligible for a Welsh Government grant to help you through the pandemic, you need to act by 5pm on June 30.

To help businesses chart their way through grant and loan opportunities Swansea Council has set up web pages highlighting all the other opportunities for business support that are available.
