Major road re-surfacing scheme set for the weekend

Swansea Council is taking advantage of quieter road conditions to carry out a £80,000 resurfacing project this weekend on the A483 southbound between Junction 47 and the Cadle roundabout.

It's expected the work will take between two and three days and diversions will be put in place to guide drivers through the alternative routes. Access to and from Home Farm Way estate will be maintained at all times.

Mark Thomas, Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure said: "The A483 inbound from the A483 at the M4 junction 47 is normally one of our busiest routes.

"Due to the coronavirus pandemic and Welsh Government regulations on people taking essential journeys only, the amount of traffic using the route is lower than normal.

"So it is sensible to do this useful improvement now to minimise the inconvenience to traffic while this important work is completed.

"The northbound carriageway between Cadle roundabout and the M4 will not be affected by the work. Naturally, the workforce will be observing the social distancing rules to keep themselves and the public safe."

It's anticipated that the road will close at 7am on Saturday, May 23rd, and re-open by no later than 8am on Monday 25th May.
