Music classes tune-up at virtual school

Swansea Music has gone online to keep young musicians busy during lockdown with bite-size lessons, fun games, quizzes and PlayAlong and SingAlong opportunities.


The service now has its own section on the council's Swansea Virtual School site at

The site is not just open to those pupils currently receiving tuition through Swansea Music, the E-Music Clubs are accessible to all pupils.

They are split into three sections:

E-Trad Music Clubs which will have a short lessons for a range of instruments and vocalists.

E-Trad 'PlayAlong & SingAlong' Music Clubs where pupils can join in with a virtual performance.

E-Music Genius clubs with practical information, quizzes and games.

There is even a brand new competition - 'Swansea Music Young Musician of the Month' - for instrumentalists and vocalists in Swansea who have already sat or intended to sit practical Grades 1-8 examinations in the Spring and Summer terms 2020.

Head of the service Karin Jenkins said: "All of the staff at Swansea Music are missing their pupils and are really looking forward to making music with them once again but until this can resume we wanted to help to keep them progressing and enjoying music.

"In the past few weeks, we have been working hard developing a digital platform for Swansea Music to be able to deliver quality music tuition to pupils across Swansea."

Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Education Improvement, Learning and Skills, Jennifer Raynor said: "Swansea Virtual School is proving very popular and it is a resource that is improving and growing daily.

"I'm delighted Swansea Music now has its own section on the site where our young musicians can continue to pursue their love of music."
