Maintenance teams in Swansea are continuing to assist council tenants with emergency repairs at their homes during the coronavirus pandemic.

During the previous week in the city, more than 250 emergency repairs were completed, tackling issues such as boiler failures, burst water pipes or faults with electricity supplies.

Many of the repairs were completed as part of Swansea Council's 'out of hours' service with teams going the extra mile to ensure council tenants have access to normal home comforts.

Since April 20, a total of 270 emergency repairs were completed in council properties, with 105 of the repairs completed 'out of hours'.

Andrea Lewis, Cabinet Member for Homes and Energy, said: "Our building services team are responding to a wide-range of domestic repairs which  are required. Not all are considered emergencies but where an emergency repair is needed, we are doing our best to get to them as quickly as possible - no matter what time of day it is."

"Tenants have also been showing their appreciation to us for working in quite difficult circumstances where social distancing is an important element to completing work in their homes. We've had several messages of thanks from tenants that have recently had work completed and it's nice to know they appreciate our efforts."
