Coronavirus staff update - 25 March 2020

Update on Cockett House and a letter to staff.

Cockett House

The Social Services centre at Cockett House is closing from today with the exception of holding Initial Child Protection conferences. These will continue to take place but utilising Skype, Teams and/or telephone where appropriate to minimise risk. Digital technology will also be used to enable important process such as panels to go ahead.

Staff letter

Our Chief Executive and Council Leader have praised staff and thanked them for continuing to provide services during the Coronavirus crisis.

The message goes out to all staff - those providing front-line services and those either working from offices or from home.

Phil Roberts and Cllr Rob Stewart, said: "The work you are doing in Swansea is already helping save lives, but will be critical in keeping people alive in the coming weeks and months. We cannot stress how important it is that you continue to help us deliver the critical services our communities are depending on.

"The people of Swansea have never needed our support as much as they do now.

"We understand you'll naturally have concerns over your health and the health of your loved ones by remaining in work, but we want to reassure you we are following the Government's latest health guidance and will respond to any changes to the guidance to ensure our staff remain safe and have the necessary personal protection equipment where needed.

"We are hugely grateful for your continued commitment and support at a time when so many people are relying on us.

"We wish you and your families well and that you keep safe and healthy in the coming weeks."
